So, as sad as I am to write this, summer is almost over—–you can’t see my tears, but please know that I could almost cry over this. As much as I love all the pumpkin lattes, college football, hayrides, and flannels, I really do LOVE my summer wardrobe the best of all seasons. This is mostly because I love and live in dresses all summer long. There is just something so beautiful about a long maxi dress swaying in the wind or a fun off the shoulder dress paired with espadrilles. Well, this post is all about a few key pieces that I wear in the fall to transition those summer dresses right with me. Hope you find this helpful and remember to ask any questions you have, I love to help!!
The first key piece you need is a denim jacket. Any color will do (bonus points for distressing and embroidery), I own way too many!! My faves though are this one here because of its distressing, and then this one here because of its beautiful beadwork. These jackets will pair perfectly over your summer dresses, long or short and just change out your footwear to booties like these or these. In the fall open toe booties are just perfect and very chic! Love that burnt orange “car wash” style dress seen below, shop it here. How about that white floral tiered maxi 2 pics down, its on sale too, shop it here.
The second item you need is a sweater coat or oversized cardi seen here or here. Both of these sweaters paired over a dress look equally as chic, plus the comfort level here is just amazing. Who doesn’t love an oversized sweater, am I right?? (I also love long, cozy vests). Now to avoid looking a bit frumpy, try and keep the dress underneath less flowy. For instance, my plaid dress seen below would look good with an oversized sweater as it easily skims the body. This outfit would also look good in winter with the addition of tights and closed toe booties like this affordable option with exposed zippers available in two colors. This perforated option is equally as chic, love this gray color too.
As always, thanks for reading and I can’t wait to read your comments! Let me know your fave way to transition those summer pieces to fall!
